Local knowledge

North Lakes garages: what to know

A master-planned suburb means a lot of garages with a lot in common.

  • Builder’s slabs

Much of North Lakes was built as a master-planned community in the last few decades, so plenty of garages still have the plain slab they came with. A sound builder’s slab is generally a good base for coating once it’s cleaned and diamond ground.

  • New builds need to cure

Where homes are still going up around North Lakes and neighbouring Mango Hill, a fresh slab needs time to cure before it’s coated. If you’ve just moved in, ask about timing before booking the floor.

  • Sealers and garage paint

Some builder’s slabs have had a sealer or a DIY coat of garage paint along the way. It has to come off so the new system bonds to the concrete, and that’s handled in prep.

The process

From enquiry to parking on it

  1. Photos

Send a few photos and rough measurements of the garage.

  2. Prep the slab

Diamond grinding removes sealers and paint, and cracks are repaired.

  3. Flake & clear coats

Your chosen blend goes down wall to wall and is sealed in.

  4. Cure

Keep cars out until the floor has fully cured.

Questions

North Lakes questions

Straight answers. If yours isn’t here, ring Nathan on 0423 627 131.

Do you do epoxy garage floors in North Lakes?

Yes. North Lakes is part of our service area, along with neighbouring Mango Hill, and it’s a straightforward run down the highway from our Morayfield base.

Is the builder’s slab in my North Lakes garage suitable for epoxy?

Usually. A sound builder’s slab is generally a good base once it’s diamond ground and any cracks are repaired. If it has had a sealer or paint applied, that’s removed during prep.

How much does an epoxy garage floor cost in North Lakes?

Each floor is quoted individually, since the size, the condition of the slab and the flake blend all affect the price. Include rough measurements and a few photos when you ask and we can come back with a free quote.

How long will my garage be out of action?

The garage needs to stay empty through prep and coating, and cars stay out until the floor has fully cured. Ask about timing for your system when you get your quote.
